You would have heard or read about all these ways of earning on the net:
- Pay per Click sites that just make the clock tick faster
- Affiliate programs, if you are a marketing wizard
- Blogging to earn, if you have all the time that life has given you
All of that is for those who are on the outskirts of literacy. But if you are well-educated, with a perceptive mind, you wouldn't like to do that. You would need something more fulfilling. Well, if you really want to earn that way here, you have to believe in your strengths. If you have the writing skills, and you are ready to learn a few things, you can begin to place your feet in. I am going to share a few things you need to know beforehand before you visit the sites offering such work, and I am not going to charge anything. I won't even ask you to use my reference. It's all free!
Academic Writing
There are reputed sites which need qualified and skilled writers for writing research papers or essays and they pay you handsomely in return. The procedure is like this:
- You apply to them with your resume, interests, and a few samples.
- They will process your application and if they find you suitable to their pogram, they will put you on their freelance list.
- As and when the requirement arises, they will contact you with guidelines. You will have to do the job to the satisfaction of the costumer, which may involve revisions.
They pay between $6-$20 for each page.
But to qualify, you first need to know a few things. If you don't already know, you can learn with ease on the Internet. Just Google!
Referencing Styles: All the research/academic papers are written in a proper format and a lot of research is involved. You will have to consult a variety of sources depending on the requirements. Whenever you do so, you have to acknowlegde it by telling the reader from where you got it. That is referencing. There are different styles of referencing:
- MLA(Modern Langauge Association)
- APA(American Psychological Association)
MLA is mainly used for humanities. APA is used for applied sciences.
Plagiarism: In general, plagiarism means copying someone else's work(in part or the whole of it) and failing to note it(whether inadvertently or intentionally). In the present context, it is even more important (as I already stated, you need to consult a variety of sources), that you mention your citations with utmost care. In works of such nature, it is quite easy to just forget something. But that is not tolerated at all by the academia.
Creative Writing/Web Content
If you write short stories, poetry, or informative articles on any topic or you have some knowledge of keyword-rich content creation techniques, you can go for sites that offer money of doing so. Alternatively, you can search for freelance jobs on freelance sites some of which are listed below. At such job boards, projects requiring various types of skills and with a variety of budgets are posted. Writers bid for these projects.
